OFMOS® for L&D Professionals

A flexible strategy simulation for corporate workshops, executive education, and leadership development — deployable in a single session

1. Why OFMOS® for L&D Professionals
A Simulation That Develops Judgment, Not Just Knowledge

Most training programs deliver knowledge. Participants leave with new frameworks, new vocabulary, new slides. What they rarely leave with is the judgment to act on that knowledge under pressure, against adaptive rivals, with incomplete information and real consequences attached.

OFMOS® Essential closes that gap. It is a tabletop strategy simulation grounded in two first-principles theories of strategic behavior — the One-Need Theory of Behavior and the Ofmos Theory of Business. The game creates the conditions under which strategic judgment forms: real decisions, real consequences, competitive pressure, emergent dynamics that cannot be scripted or predicted. The facilitator directs attention to the phenomena that matter. The structured debrief consolidates the learning.

The result is a session where participants do not learn about strategy. They practice it — and leave with judgment they can apply immediately.

2. Where It Fits
From a One-Hour Workshop to a Multi-Session Leadership Program

OFMOS® Essential deploys effectively across a wide range of L&D contexts:

Corporate workshops — a single match (20 to 60 minutes) followed by a facilitated debrief creates a complete experiential session. Ideal for strategy offsites, team-building events, and professional development days.

Executive education programs — the game puts accumulated business knowledge under genuine competitive pressure. Executives who can articulate strategy must now execute it in real time, against peers, with portfolio consequences.

Leadership development programs — multi-session formats where each round builds on the last. Consequences from earlier matches carry forward and compound. The Five Scales of the Business Big Picture structures five progressively deeper learning experiences on the same board.

Onboarding initiatives — new hires experience the organization's strategic logic through play rather than slides. The debrief connects gameplay to the company's strategic environment and strategic priorities.

Tournament formats — multi-round series where cumulative performance determines the winner. Suitable for programs where sustained strategic engagement across multiple sessions is the goal.

3. How It Works in Practice
Plug-and-Play Simulation Design

A typical workshop session runs 60 to 90 minutes: 30 minutes of play and 15 to 30 minutes for a facilitated debrief. One copy per group of 2 to 4 participants. For a workshop of 20 participants, five to seven copies are recommended.

The game requires no preparation beyond reading the rulebook. The Business Concepts section maps every action to its real-world strategic equivalent, giving the facilitator the vocabulary for connecting gameplay to participants' own strategic contexts.

Scenario-based facilitation allows the generic board to be mapped onto specific industry contexts — automotive, technology, healthcare, financial services, or any sector where these dynamics operate. The core rules remain the same; the interpretive layer is customized. This makes the simulation immediately relevant to participants' own strategic environments. Participants leave not with notes from a workshop but with a strategic lens they apply immediately — and that compounds in value with every strategic decision they face afterward.

4. The Five Strategy Learning Solutions
Scalable Depth for Any Program Length

For programs with multiple sessions, the Five Scales of the Business Big Picture structures five progressively deeper learning experiences:

Strategy at the Individual Scale — foundational decision-making and mental model development.

Strategy at the Human-AI Scale — managing AI tools as a strategic portfolio.

Strategy at the Product Scale — portfolio dynamics, commoditization, innovation, and strategic positioning.

Strategy at the Organization Scale — managing a company as a system of offering-market pairs.

Strategy at the Economy Scale — macro forces, industry dynamics, and economy-level strategic thinking.

Each scale uses the same game, the same board, the same core rules. What changes is the facilitator's framing, the structured debrief, and the scale-specific mods. A one-session workshop can focus on a single scale. A multi-session leadership program can move through scales progressively, building cumulative strategic capability.

Session Design Support

The OFMOS® Essential Rulebook is self-contained — rules, business concepts, applications, and four player modifications. Everything needed to run a session at the Product Scale is in the box.

Pilot Learning Guides are available now for three scales — Individual, Human-AI, and Product. Each guide provides a structured session design, facilitation notes, and a debrief framework — enough to deploy a workshop or program module at any of these three scales with minimal prep.

Official Strategy Learning Guides — expanded session designs, debrief structures, and facilitation resources tailored to specific contexts, audiences, and industries — are in development. Multiple guides per scale will be published as they become available.

For larger deployments, facilitated sessions led by designer Cristian Mitreanu are available. Contact us to discuss your program.
